How to play Guess The Pieces

Each round shows a picture and the name of a real LEGO® set. Guess how many pieces are inside, type your number and press the arrow (or Enter). The official piece count appears together with your points, then press Next for another set. The order is shuffled every time you open the page.

The collection covers more than 200 sets, from tiny promotional polybags with a few dozen pieces to display models with over 10,000. Themes include Star Wars, Harry Potter, NINJAGO, Creator Expert and Icons, Architecture, City, Technic, Minecraft and more. Click the picture to see it full size.

How scoring works

Every set is worth up to 1000 points, based on how far off you are in percent: 1000 × e^{−3 × error}, with error = |guess ÷ real count − 1|. Being 10% off earns 741 points, being 20% off earns 549, and guessing double the real count earns only 50. Guessing too low is punished less than guessing too high, so when in doubt, go a bit lower.

Tips for better guesses

Watch for “Mini” and polybags. Small promotional sets such as the Mini X-Wing or Mini Creeper usually have fewer than 100 pieces.
Look at the box size. The bigger and more detailed the model in the picture, the more pieces it has. Large display models from the Icons and Ultimate Collector Series lines regularly pass 4,000.
Count studs, not walls. Smooth, detailed surfaces need many small plates and tiles, which push the count up quickly.
Remember the record holders. The LEGO Art World Map (11,695 pieces) and the Eiffel Tower (10,001) sit at the very top of the list. See the biggest sets in the game.

Piece counts are the official numbers LEGO publishes for each set, cross-checked on Brickset, the largest community database of LEGO sets. If you spot a mismatch, please report it on the contact page.

FAQ

Are minifigures counted as pieces?

Yes. The official count includes every element in the box, so each minifigure usually adds 3 to 6 pieces (legs, torso, head, hair or helmet and accessories).
